Matt, check Writers and Poets online. I'm not sure of the web address, or I'd link, but yes. Lots of contests and calls for submission. I want to dig through your book, but I think it'd be a bad idea for me to do that until christmas. So send it to me around mid-december.
You'll also be interested, if you haven't heard about it, but Dave Eggers' new book, What is the What is based on the story of a young man caught in the genocide in Sudan. I'm told its funny and tragic and everything an Eggers novel should be.
